The main population centres are along river
valleys as civilisations started over here along
with rivers and trend was same thereafter. An
agro based society, divided into different
clans, groups and cast system, Pakistani system
is as old as Indus valley Civilisation. Social
system is based on joint family system in rural
areas while it is vanishing in urban areas
mostly due to financial pressures and small land
holdings.
Main ethnic groups being Baltis, Wakhis, Khawar,
Hunzukut, Kohistani, Shena, Yashkun and Pathans
in northren areas while Gujar, Araian, Jaats,
Kashimiris, Syeds andmigrants from Indian Utter
Pradesh dominate in Punjab. In Sindh, rural
areas are ruled by Bhutto, Pirs, Chandios,
Hullios, Miranis and other tribes of interior
Sindh while Urban areas are controlled by
migrants of Indian Uter Pradesh, Indian Himachal
and Brohis. In Balochistan, Bugti, Jamalis,
Mengals, Mazaris and Bizenjo tribe are
important.
